Ten to two. Perfect time to discover that not only do you have exams in pharmacology, sociology, core midwifery skillz and pre-existing Pathophysiology but also unexpected outcomes of pregnancy and childbirth. Ah. Thought I'd a lot of notes that didn't quite fit in any of my folders. Strangeness is discovering that whoever drew up the timetable seems to think that being Rhesus negative is an unexpected outcome. Kinda normal for them, ain't it?

For the record, I do know a lot of that stuff, was just surprised to have discovered an extra subject after going through all the lectures for it. Except Sociology, I still have about a small rainforest worth of paper to get through on that one. Oh, and research. But so far this year it's been a two hour class on "what does mean, median and mode mean?" and a further two hours of "here's some pictures of some birth chairs." Sometimes I wonder why I bother turning up. Taxpayers of Ireland, you might want to ignore how much my education is costing ye. But sure ye'll be getting bloody good value for money once I qualify.

Note to self: poke people in the ribs about possibility of elective placement in wossname, Uganda, that's the one. Pokings to commence in April to get it sorted by June. And maybe think about starting that film essay.

Plan for tomorrow is to draw up a very short, very easily memorise-able list of what I've read, who wrote it, when they wrote it and what they said. After that things get an awful lot easier. Today was Rhesus stuff including Anti-D, principles of drug administration, physiology of labour (all three stages), daily examination of the neonate and finished reading Birthing Autonomy. Fun and all as this is I could do with a break. This time last year I was about to head to Galway for my retreat from midwifery. This time round no such relaxing treats. Roll on June! This year I'm going on holiday somewhere. Somewhere outside the country. Within Europe though. Suggestions?
