What can I say about the last few days that isn't basically "I'm so fucking glad I'm not a nurse."

The reasons are many, let me list them:
- Drunks. Not fun.
- HIV. Not fun.
- Escape artists. Not fun. Seriously dude, we're trying to make you better. Stop running away when you've hospital property sticking out of you.
- Dementia. Not fun.
- Poorly controlled diabetes. So very not fun.
- And I'm bored with listing illness. Cos they're not fun.
The thing is, that I do all that in my own area. It doesn't bother me in the slightest. But that's because those cases are very much the minority.

Here, have some fun things instead:
- Scaring the bejaysus out of an SHO. When it comes to SHOs, I generally either dribble and fawn or poke them with big sticks. I'll let you guess which reaction this one provoked.
- Managing to spend time with some of the patients and talking to them.
- Knowing the names of the patients, not "Bed X" but "Mister Y." My hatred of this way of talking about people as if they were furniture is not well documented but that might have something to do with what happens to those who call people by bed numbers.
- Being able to tell within seconds if any of my classmates were around by the laughter. We's a friendly laughing bunch. Don't ever assume that implies childishness.

Other things that are happening mostly involve booze or Cake. Some cake deserves to be singled out with capitals. There's some travel planned for later, too. Just day trips, mostly but holidays are always nice. November continues on its happy course.
