Cos it's where my heart is.
Nov. 5th, 2007 10:50 pmI'm home. In so many ways.
First day of community midwifery placement was today. Visiting women in their homes for ante and postnatal stuff, wandering round the wards to see who might like to take part in our new shiny Early Transfer Home scheme (no, we don't just dump them on the doorstep and run back to fill the bed with someone else) both were fantastic. Talking to the women and their partners and their mammies and their babbies in their environment, constantly refusing the millions of cups of tea I was offered, laughing and joking with them like old friends, being vocal about hospitals being for sick people. Getting the work done in an unhurried way. Getting widdled on twice by baby boys who always know where the student is and can aim even at 2 days old. That last bit perhaps not as great as the rest.
Home. That's where I am. That's where I'm going.
