  • Bottled up another gallon of mystery booze. Not mead, I know that, some sort of mystery fruit concoction. Am now out of corks, and my local shop ain't selling them anymore. This is exactly the sort of thing that I do not like buying online.
  • Removed another couple of dozen books to the charity shop pile.
  • Wondered if I really want to keep Lady (my violin.) I haven't played her in... many many months, mostly because I tend to be home very late during term time and partly because mum works nights so strangling a cat in my bedroom might not be what a Good Daughter Does. Then again, I know that the instant I find a new home for her I'll want to play again. So she stays.
  • Found half a dozen Lush soaps scattered around the room.
  • Finally unpacked my bag from when I was in Cork. In June. Ahem.
  • Attacked my Buzz Lightyear (not a euphemism!) with a screwdriver to figure out how to put new batteries in him. Now have to figure out where all the extra bits go. I'm having flashbacks to some Red Dwarf episode. The Woody has vanished, though. Again, not a euphemism.
  • Watched Beowulf. A movie that would have been made far more enjoyable with mead inside me.
  • Got confused by a boy. Again. The one I'm not allowed do things with anymore, cos I wind up with snotty tears afterwards. Snotty tears being best case. Yeah, not good for me.
  • Drank pints of hot chocolate and contemplated drugs. No decent painkillers in the house anymore and Nurofen Plus isn't plussy enough.
  • Poked around with the Perinatal Institute's CTG toy. Realised I rely a lot on my hands, which as a midwife is a good thing - I don't entirely trust machinery, and you can tell a lot about contractions and foetal size and lots of other things by using your hands. Without my hands I'm lost and found it quite difficult to get through the tutorial. But it would seem that's another bit of work for next year completed. Oops.
  • Didn't panic at using the word midwife to describe myself there. Hmm, An Bord Altranais might have issues with that, must remember to stick the word "student" in front of that when talking to college types. Especially the lecturer who is actually on ABA. *waves to Louise*
  • Ordered moar college books, but can't decide if I should get the Stables or the Coad and Dunstall anatomy and physiology. Toying over getting Enkin, but wary of getting something that's 8 years old and might have a new edition soon. Student MWs? Opinions?
  • Failed to get through chapter one of Reading Birth and Death. I feel so bad for not reading this, it's effectively my entire sociology course in one book and is required reading. But Jo's writing can be quite difficult to read at times. But she makes excellent chocolate chilli cake, so I'll soldier on!
  • Pimped out yet another tutor for someone looking for a homebirth. Forgot he's not taking on any more clients for next year though. Oopsh. Why can't people wait till I'm qualified to get pregnant? Um, not that I'm not qualified to get pregnant. Ah, ya know what I mean.

Advice of today: Do not dissolve Maxilief (Solpadeine knock offs) in apple juice because you think it might make it taste less like death. It doesn't. It actually makes you vomit.

Sample size: 1. May not be actual Science.
