Vroom vroom! Or not.
Sep. 12th, 2008 03:28 pmBuying a car. Private sale. Seller fills in their bit on the registration cert, buyer fills in their bit. Seller misspells the new owner's name (because they've filled out a bit they're not meant to, gah,) new owner doesn't. Dept. of Transport in Shannon take the spelling the seller put and put that on the new reg. cert. Buyer gets new cert, notices wrong name. Sends it back. Shannon send it back again with no changes. Buyer then gets on the phone and spends two hours on hold trying to get a human to talk to.
Now, is the easiest thing just to fill out the back page as if a new sale had occurred? In effect the wrong name "sells" it to right name. Can't see anything even vaguely helpful on the DoT's website.
I do not want to spend another two hours on hold trying to get a human. The landline is at the bottom of the stairs which is an uncomfortable place to sit for that long.
No, I haven't bought a car, I'm trying to fix someone else's cock up.
