Jun. 4th, 2009 11:47 pm12:20 Leave house in Passage West.
20:40 Arrive house in Drogheda.
Three buses, three miles of walking with not unheavy bags, one of which has finally given up the ghost and needs to be replaced, stat.
Good week away, lots of MEAT and FIRE and hugs and kittehs, including one very much in heat who wanted everything to be her boyfriend, especially the plug for the dehumidifier. Strange cat.
Arrived home and was ignored by the dog until I slipped her some chicken and told her she was a very pretty doggie (the dog gets her hair cut more often than I do.) Martha has been stressing about the Leaving, which is understandable. What's made it worse was having the only exam she was scheduled to have today cancelled because one of the schools in Drawwda got the paper by accident a day early. Through sheer incompetence this wasn't reported back to the Dept. until 4 yesterday afternoon which didn't leave enough time to get the emergency papers out for today. She's absolutely gutted because the original paper was such that she would have easily got an A. And now she's upstairs stressing that she's going to fail maths tomorrow. English Paper 2 has been rescheduled for Saturday morning, which is going to cause no end of fun.
Every time I go away for a few days I come back to find the house being done up in some way. Today, there's a new door gone in between the utility room of the main house and the bedroom of the granny flat so that we have the extra sitting room for entertaining. Also means I can nip in and shower whenever I want, which will be nice when I'm doing crazy all-nighters. My bedroom's on the ground floor so me being awake at all hours doesn't bother anyone sleeping upstairs, but me showering in the upstairs bathroom at 0400 might wake someone. This knocking through business had been talked about for a while, but wasn't planned to happen for a good few months yet, I wonder what might have spurred the 'rents into action and have some suspicions there. Also means I've lost the cupboard that I used to keep my demijohns on, so I either need to stop brewing or find somewhere else. Hmm, the kitchen in the granny flat's not being used...
Batch of mead that I stuck on at the end of March has finally finished fermenting and is still a gorgeous deep brown. Can't wait for it to clear a bit more so I can have a taste.
My mood, as I hoped it would, has improved considerably since finishing exams for the year. I'm sleeping plenty, I'm smiling lots and my libido has taken an enormous jump. Which is amusing. And that's me. Being away is good, but so is being home and even though my bed is about 1/3 the size of my bed in Cark it's my bed and I love it and I'm going to snuggle down into it now. G'night.
