Martha really is a good kid. She just texted me to make sure I was about to go to sleep before my last ever exam and was worried about me earlier after an argument with the parents left me quite upset (partly due to exam stress, partly due to financial stresses.)

I should probably stop calling her a kid though, seeing as she was totally the responsible adult last weekend, making sure I remembered to eat and relax and letting me know she'd be ok to sit in the bar for a while if I wanted to go for a swim or five, listening with that psych nurse brain of hers while I chatted to others. She picks up on things scarily well, far better than I do and is far nicer in general to strangers than I am, jaded old creature that I am.

Taking her to the con was what she asked for for her 18th. Looks like the next one is her 21st present. Again, late, but hey, it's what she wants.

And now, because my goddaughter tells me so, it's bedtime.

I'm not sure how I feel about today's exam, the last one ever for this course. Come pass or fail it's the last one, fail and I get chucked off the course. I think I did ok, but then I thought that the last time.

Cold, hungry babies came up again. Fine, fine, hypothermic and hypoglycaemic babies and the prevention and treatment thereof. Answered that well last time, did similarly today. This time did actually use the words "keep the baby warm, feed the baby regularly" cos I was in a silly mood.

Pathological jaundice came up but I ignored that not quite knowing enough to write for an hour on the subject.

Then my precious pre-eclampsia. The more I work the more that scares me. "Fulminating" is a terrifying word ya know.

Then delay in progress in first stage of labour and my baby - OP. I am the bleedin' queen of the OP. Queen. I have a crown and everything.

Last one was care of the post emergency section woman for first 12 days and prevention and detection of DVT. Couldn't remember what the CTPA was called, annoyingly, but that was just exam forgetty brain. Other than spending half a page describing CTPA cos I couldn't remember what it was called, this one went well too.

So, happy with my cold and hungry babies that I dried off and warmed and fed. Happy with my pre-eclampsia. Happy enough with my emLSCS and DVT. It took me ages to figure out thromboembolic disorders, but now I bleedin' well know them.

So, again, that's the academic side finished off.

Twelve weeks of placement to go including 3 days in college next week, looking forward to having all the girls back together again. At least, those of us still here. I'm so nearly there.

Slight stabbity in ears and throat now is telling me that maybe I shouldn't have got quite so close to infectious Liz as I did but hugs are lovely and am off now till Tuesday. Think I'll just veg out at home. Properly veg. With Buffy and tea and bikkits.
