Passed my medication administration skillz exam. I'm super cleber... Three skill stations had to be passed.
Skill the first, can you do sums? Prescription on kardex for 1g of paracetamol. But bottles contain tablets of 500mg! Oh no! What do you do? Give three tablets = fail.
Skill the second, can you read? Check blood to be transfused against woman's chart and prescription. Not point out that unit numbers don't match = fail.
Skill the third, can you poke and make-believe? Draw up random amount of saline pretending it's something that's not saline, unless you like injecting salty water into people and can explain the rationale behind it. Show where on dummy you'd shove it in, pretend to inject. Squirt pretend drugs all over the place/stab self with contaminated needle = fail.
That took a grand total of 15 minutes, including being questioned on just why I stabbed the dummy in the ass and not in the arm. Still, hadda be done, though they're getting rid of such a silly test for the incoming second years. Incoming! Duck!
Speaking of ducks, there was one in my back garden earlier. An actual duck. It said "quack."
