The corpo are putting in what look like water meters outside a couple of houses on my street. I've absolutely no problem paying for water that I can drink that comes out of a tap in my kitchen that doesn't kill me. I think it's bloody marvellous that I can do that.
So, next step is to figure out how I can do things like collect rainwater to use for flushing toilets. There's no reason why I have to use treated water for flushing the loo and washing clothes. The washing clothes bit may require a bit more thinking, as I believe the water for that doesn't come from the tank in the attic. It can't be that hard to link the gutters into the attic tank, surely. Think the shower is connected to that too, must investigate. Rain water makes my hair go lovely and curly, so I have a gurly reason to do some poking round in the attic. Next time dad's away, anyway. 30 years old and I've never been in the attic. Or used a lawnmower, for that matter, but that's not exactly related to this. Ooh, reminds me, must get another couple of water butts for watering the garden.
I have a DIY project. A new one. Involving plumbing! And not in the reproductive anatomy way.
EDIT: Bah, turns out there's no more room in the attic for water tanks. Unless I want the rest of the family to wake up one morning wearing them.
