I get to sit my exam. I'm almost in tears I'm so relieved. Still not officially off books, but apparently they'll never stop a student sitting an exam so I'm to turn up anyway.

My tonsils are starting to look normal-for-me size again, too. I can even eat! Today is a good day.

Oh, and the Nurses and Midwives Bill is unlikely to get anywhere before the election. Which means at least one of the TDs I've been badgering about this won't be voting on it (Morgan, though hopefully at least one other will lose his seat.) But it gives more breathing space. Good letter on the subject in today's Times: http://www.irishtimes.com/letters/index.html#1224284180584 signed by a bunch of people who have influenced me over the years.

We've a great group of neighbours here. They're the first ones to arrive at celebrations and the last to leave after funerals after doing all the dishes. So seeing two fire appliances work on one of their houses tonight upset me. Thankfully everyone was ok, no need for any medical attention. But the youngest in the house, one of Martha's old friends, lost all her stuff. All her books, her clothes, all her presents from her 18th from last week and all the Christmas presents for her family. I wanna do something to help, am thinking of getting some vouchers for clothes or something. The whole street has already offered practical help of places to stay and meals but I wanna do something for Danielle. Not that I can do much, but it's better than nothing.
