Apr. 28th, 2009 03:55 pmGrr. Martha's school just rang to see if Mum knew about her "absentee problem." In a year where her father was (and is) very ill and her grandmother who has lived with us for the last 7 years died. I'm particularly enjoying mum giving a bollockin' to the fool who rang, complaining that the school was in no way supportive of her in these trying times when the poor child is also dealing with that pesky Leaving Cert.
This is fun! There are some things that women in my family are good at, one being bloody vocal when annoyed by fools. Rile us, we bite. Hard. We also make good pastry. Don't think that's related.
Edit: Right, the fool has lost any respect I ever had for her. Not a single word of consolation to mum. This was, yes, the school that I had to collect Martha from on the day my grandmother died, the school that I told why I was taking her out of school. Lack of communication is bad enough, but on being told just why Martha has missed so much a simple "I'm sorry for your losses" would have just about saved her. Now, oooh there's going to be a letter!
