Don't take the scenic route through college, kids, it's a pain in the arse when you want to apply for grants later on.
Martha's application was nice and straight-forward: proof of parents' residence, proof of parental income from employment and pension, proof of ID and nationality, copy of college offer, filled in form, copy of letter from TCD saying I r stoodent.
I've spent the last week and a bit pulling the house apart looking for proof of attendance at DIT (95-98 and 00-01), DCU (99-00) and TCD (06-now) and long form of birth cert. DIT lost me and had to pull out an old paper file deep in the bowels of Aungier Street and a very lovely man called Paul was very apologetic about it taking more than a day for him to write a letter because I was awkward and asked for it at the busiest time of the year (sorry, Paul!) but was happy and surprised that I knew my student number from then. Surely an 8 digit number that you've used regularly for more than a year isn't that hard to remember? I've had three student numbers, can list them all off because it's Not That Hard. But hey, just waiting for letter from DIT to arrive and then Louth County Council will pay the €1500 registration fee and I can be a 4th year (SS! Eeeeee! And Eeeeek!) Also found long form of birth cert, which had been driving me absolutely batty and making me quite annoyed about anyone needing to see official papers that state I'm not of the same blood as my family.
My wardrobe is covered in bits of important paper blutacked up so I know where everything is now. Once I get them back they're going somewhere safe that I know about. Family are worse than I am for filing.
While hunting I also found the slip of paper with some non-identifying bioparents info on it that came with me from the nuns in Stamullen. And feeding information. In one bottle: 6oz milk, 2oz water, 1tsp sugar. Must find more on the history of formula. And then I'll start looking at what the CDC might be thinking about recommending routine circumcision to prevent HIV infection later in life (cos, ya know, condoms are totally useless in that respect...)
