Dec. 26th, 2009 01:33 pmAm still, many many hours later, including 13 hours of sleep, in a postprandial stupor. So much stuffing, I shudder to think how much bread equivalent I ate, tasty tasty tender ham, turkey was moist and fell off the carcass. Decided to stuff between the skin and the meat, which seems to have done wonders for keeping meat moist. Tried so hard not to think of rupturing membranes as I needed to cut a few tendon thingies to get right in under the skin (sliiiiide the amnihook, sorry, scissors, in between fingers of non-dominant hand to protect surrounding tissue) then realised it was a bit more like internal bimanual compression when cleaning out the cavity which always reminds me of explaining bimanual compression as fisting and then made me feel bad about doing that to a turkey.
Dad gave the dog a taste of chocolate. Dog promptly went Mad, launching herself at the tree which is of the Christmas of my childhood constantly shedding variety as I was sitting under it dispensing presents. Made off with some decorations and buried them out the back for eating later or something. Came back in and started humping my leg, I told her off for that so she started to hump my head instead. That was unexpected. Honestly, when you get a girl dog neutered you don't expect her to come back as a boy (widdles with leg cocked, too.)
Got some nice presents, slanket and ickle fridge for Room in Res, DVDs, chocolate, books, Lush goodies and something that looks like it's for grating feet which I'm not quite so sure about. Am easy to buy for, really. Santy brought me my much longed for suture set so I can practice that particular skill at home on real, albeit dead, flesh. For "infection control" reasons we're no longer allowed use meat to learn it on in school, using instead smooshy gel filled pretend pudendae. Shameful parts, indeed. Have to wait till tomorrow for the butchers to be open so I can get me a cow tongue, have been informed that's the closest form of meat to girl bits in terms of texture and tongue is cheap too!
Couple of strops yesterday, mostly caused by being overworked and overheated and then slicing finger open with sharp sharp knife but in the end everything went well. Woke up this afternoon (look, slept!) to find that the grass is green again, no frost out the back and the bird bath is starting to defrost. Can comfortably air out house now for a bit without wearing a coat inside. Dreamt about trees full of elderberries and gardens full of blackberries and bees, subconscious is telling me I wanna brew. Think it's time for some Science before I move back to Dublin in a little over a week. Squee!
