Feb. 20th, 2010 09:04 pmFinished first postnatal placement of 4th year. Another one in May-June. 4kg lost since start of it because there were days when I could not face eating at all (10 to go to pre-midwifery weight which is a goal I'd like to hit by August.) Uniforms fit me better, at least. Though they have developed a worrying habit of letting buttons open. Which leads to interesting conversations about my choice of underwear. Tell ya, if I ever work as a staff midwife there I'm buying tunics that are like scrub tops. I've a bet of a Donegan's dinner with Eva that if I stay working in Ireland I'll make CMM (management level) within 7 years of graduation. I fully plan on not paying for that steak.
On Monday I move to delivery suite for 9 whole weeks of catching babies. Am determined to lose my Queen of the OP title and get my 36 remaining catches needed. Have to, I've only got two more weeks there right at the end and I really don't want to get them by sitting at the desk and going in right at the last minute for every birth. Don't like the idea of that at all. Have discovered that following my three nights I'm then off for at least 4 days, 4th-7th of March. Must do something interesting with those days, seeing as I've promised myself that this will be the year of seeing more of this beautiful country I live in. Suggestions would be very welcome, otherwise I start firing darts at a map of Ireland and knowing my luck, end up in Dundalk.
Back in Drogheda now for the night. Eva made me laugh so much with her story of getting lost in Dublin on Wednesday. Her directions, as given by me, were "Get on the M1, stay on it, keep going, g'wan, keeeeeep going, don't go into the Port Tunnel, stay on the same road even though it stops being a motorway, you'll pass a big red church on the left, keeeeeep going straight, hotel is on your right after another couple of miles." Her response to my directions were "I bloody well know where Drumcondra is!" So hearing about how she got to Drumcondra from Drogheda by going through (in order) Beaumont, Darndale, the airport (yes, through the airport), Santry, Beaumont and Artane made me actual lol. Lots. Hearing how she then got lost going from Drumcondra to Beaumont the next morning also made for some giggles.
Family all fine, Martha was out last night for her 19th, dad's healing well, mum's off with the kids at a concert thingie. And I'm back to my normal height.
