I've now got a gallon of peach wine, another of jam (mixed fruit, it claims to have apples and rhubarb in there somewhere along with enough sugar to rot the teeth of a whole town) and a third of non-sticky mead (recipe number 1, the first lot I threw at people nearly 2 years ago now that was apparently more wine-like than mead-like but I thought it tasty) fermenting away fairly happily in my bedroom. The lack of heat in the utility room was making things go a little too slowly for my liking. Not that I'm in any way trying to hurry up fermentation, that would be stupid and wrong but I like things to progress nicely at a pace that I'm used to. Just must remember that they're there and not walk into them late at night. Will all be ready in 3-9 months, though the mead is for Christmas. The sticky stuff has mostly been promised already and will be distributed sometime over the summer, once it's stable and mature enough to be bottled.

Made too many currant buns today but they'll freeze rather happily. There are also far far far too many truffles in my fridge, but thankfully I'm in lectures on Monday and can distribute them among the many midwives-in-training. My bedroom is also now de-cluttered and have thrown out any clothes that were more than one size too small. Incentive clothes are fine, but unless they're really special I can always buy more when I get down to whatever size they are. Was contemplating doing some gardening, but it's a bit too cold still. Might go for a walk in a while, maybe out to Termonfeckin. I may be trying to do stuff to keep myself occupied. Can't think why.

Going riding tomorrow for the first time in months. I could use the time away from the family and the thoughts of study. Sometimes I think best when I'm not thinking of anything except holding on for dear life. Side saddle's hell on the inner thighs but very much worth it.

Trying to decide where to go for a couple of days over my week's holidays mid-March. Half thinking Waterford, or rather Tramore. Must pop down there at some point, want to make sure Kitty's name went on the gravestone. On a similar note have to pop out to Mount Jerome on Monday to do some work on the great-grandparent's grave. Thinking a lot about the family that's gone at the minute. Happy thoughts, Sarah. Happy thoughts! Puppies and jam and puppies in jam! And stuff.
