Apr. 17th, 2007 08:25 pmYup. It takes 4 years for me to learn how to say "push." Oooh! I can say that already!
I'd kinda thought that I wouldn't have to answer "what do midwives do?" questions from my grandmother. Dinner conversation this evening went along the lines of:
"Do you just watch the babies being born?"
"Er, well, no. We kinda catch them too."
"Do you change the nappies?"
"Er, well, we'll show the women what's best to do, but generally no."
"Do you wash the babies?"
"Er, well, we'll show the women what's best to do, but generally no."
"Do you feed the babies?"
"Er, well, I'm not lactating..."
"Oh. Do you have maternity nurses for that then?"
