Beautiful things of today
Dec. 25th, 2007 09:57 pmSelection box for breakfast. I have one tradition for Christmas Day, that's it. Once Santa brings me a selection box for my breakfast I'm happy.
Someone else cooking the dinner. Ok, I'd done all the prep, but still, someone else doing the watching the turkey job while I pranced around in my pretty dress, eating chocolates and grapes and sipping bubbly.
Presents! Stack of DVDs, a gluttony of chocolate, strange mug that plays music when you lift it. Pyjamas that don't fit. Home brew goodies.
The kids. Niamh had an almost completely High School Musical themed Christmas present day, Emma had a Dora one. So what did Niamh take back to the table when she was finished eating and spend an hour poking at? The book of Irish legends I'd given her. Squee!
My granny. Blowing so hard into a whistle she got in her cracker. So hard she nearly went purple, giving out that it wasn't making noise. Then Eva pointing out "Nanna. That's Sellotape!"
Three stuffings only this year - apple n celery, random herbs of "ahh I'm drunk and tired and what's right beside my hand" and cranberry (for stuffing into turkey, deeeeeelish.) I'd be happy with a plate of stuffing and meat.
Meat! The most moist turkey I've had in ages. The ham that fell off the bone when we were slicing it. The dog that ran away with the ham bone, buried it in the back garden then spent most of the day going in and out to check on it.
Is Christmas.
